El Juicio de Paris (Simonet)

A 1904 oil-on-canvas painting by the Spanish artist Enrique Simonet, measuring over two meters wide and now held by the Museo de Málaga, in the possession of the artist's heirs. It depicts the Judgment of Paris from Greek mythology, showing the three goddesses Hera, Athena and Aphrodite naked before the Trojan prince Paris as he decides which of them should receive the golden apple. The painting is one of many depictions of this myth painted in the European academic tradition into the early twentieth century.
