The Afrasiab murals, also known as the Paintings of the Ambassadors, are a rare surviving example of Sogdian art discovered in 1965 when local authorities began building a road through the Afrasiab mound, the site of pre-Mongol Samarkand. They are now preserved and displayed in a dedicated museum on the mound.
