The Great Piece of Turf is a watercolor painting by the German artist Albrecht Durer, created during the Northern Renaissance. Though it appears at first glance to be a random assemblage of grass and plants, it depicts an organized, monumental whole, and scholars regard it as one of Durer's most important plant studies, its hyper-realistic, crisp portrayal of natural objects considered revolutionary for its time.
