Sir Anish Mikhail Kapoor is a British-Indian sculptor born in Mumbai in 1954 who trained in London at Hornsey College of Art and Chelsea School of Art and Design and works chiefly in installation and conceptual sculpture. He won the Turner Prize in 1991 and the Genesis Prize in 2017 and was knighted in 2013, and his best-known works include Cloud Gate, popularly called The Bean, in Chicago's Millennium Park, along with Sky Mirror and the ArcelorMittal Orbit in London's Olympic Park. He is described as one of the most influential and innovative artists of his generation for his exploration of matter, non-matter and the void.
