Jean Andre

Jean Andre, also known as Brother Andre, was a French painter who lived from 1662 to 1753. Born in Paris, he became a Dominican in 1679 and traveled to Rome, where he studied under Carlo Maratti and the works of Michelangelo and Raphael. He painted portraits and historical subjects, including the Feast of the Pharisee at the Dominican Church in Lyon, a self portrait now in the Louvre, and the Marriage of Cana and the Miracle of the Loaves at Bordeaux, and he taught art to Taraval, Chasle, and Dumont.
