Fauvist Painters

Painters of Fauvism, the brief but influential movement centered on Henri Matisse and Andre Derain around 1905, marked by intensely bright, non-naturalistic color applied in bold, simplified areas. This group gathers painters who exhibited with or worked directly in the Fauvist circle in its short active period, and excludes later painters merely influenced by its use of color, who belong instead under Other Modernist Painters or their own more specific movement group.
