Fairuz

Fairuz, born Nouhad Wadie Haddad in Lebanon in 1934 or 1935, is a Lebanese singer widely regarded as one of the most celebrated vocalists in the Arab world and a symbol of modern Lebanon. Her first major hit, Itab, released in 1952, made her an instant star, and over a six-decade career she has recorded nearly 1,500 songs and released more than 80 albums, selling over 150 million records. She married composer Assi Rahbani in 1955 and worked closely with the Rahbani family, including her son, composer Ziad Rahbani.
