Frank Sinatra was an American singer and actor who lived from 1915 to 1998, one of the most influential popular vocalists of the twentieth century. He rose to fame as a big-band singer in the 1940s before building a solo career on a relaxed, conversational phrasing style, recording landmark albums for Capitol Records in the 1950s including In the Wee Small Hours and Songs for Swingin' Lovers. He was also an Academy Award-winning actor, best known on screen for From Here to Eternity in 1953.
