Jimi Hendrix was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter who lived from 1942 to 1970, widely regarded as one of the most innovative and influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music. He was known for his inventive use of feedback and distortion and for his performance at the Woodstock festival in 1969, where he improvised a version of The Star-Spangled Banner. He died at twenty-seven, having released only three studio albums with the Jimi Hendrix Experience.
