Marvin Gaye

Marvin Pentz Gaye Jr. was an American R&B and soul singer, songwriter and producer who lived from 1939 to 1984, known as the Prince of Motown, credited with helping shape the sound of Motown and soul music in the 1960s and 1970s. After early hits including I Heard It Through the Grapevine, he became one of the first Motown artists to produce his own recordings with the landmark 1971 album What's Going On, later scoring his biggest commercial success with 1982's Sexual Healing before he was shot and killed by his father in 1984.
