Portrait of a Man, often called Portrait of a Man in a Red Turban, is a small oil painting by the Early Netherlandish painter Jan van Eyck, completed in 1433 in Bruges. Its original frame carries the inscription Als Ich Can, van Eyck's personal motto, used here unusually large and prominent, and the sitter's direct, confrontational gaze has led many scholars to read the work as a self-portrait.
