Portrait of Andrea Doria as Neptune

Portrait of Andrea Doria as Neptune is an oil-on-canvas painting by the Italian Mannerist painter Agnolo Bronzino, completed in either the 1530s or the 1540s and now held in the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan. It depicts the Genoese admiral Andrea Doria posed as the classical sea god Neptune, deliberately reviving the classical sculptural convention of showing powerful political figures in heroic nudity. The canvas measures roughly two meters by a meter and a half and was originally painted for a private collection.
