Ezekiel's Vision (Raphael)

Ezekiel's Vision is a small oil on panel painting of about 1518 by the Italian Renaissance artist Raphael, held in the Palatine Gallery of the Palazzo Pitti in Florence. It depicts the biblical prophet Ezekiel's vision of God in majesty, known in Jewish tradition as the Merkabah. Scholars have judged the painting stylistically influenced by Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling and on that basis date it to no earlier than 1518, despite payment records that might otherwise suggest an earlier date.
