The John Hancock Center, officially 875 North Michigan Avenue, is a 100-story, 1,128-foot skyscraper in the Magnificent Mile district of Chicago, Illinois. It was designed by chief designer Bruce Graham and structural engineer Fazlur Rahman Khan of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. When it topped out on 6 May 1968, it was the second-tallest building in the world after the Empire State Building and the tallest in Chicago; measured to the top of its antenna masts it stands at 1,500 feet.
