La Dormeuse de Naples, originally titled Donna nuda che dorme (Sleeping nude woman), was an oil painting completed on 28 October 1809 by the French Neoclassical painter Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, showing a life-size nude woman stretched out on a day bed with her head resting on one arm on a cushion and her other arm raised behind her head. Ingres painted it for Joachim Murat, King of Naples, but the canvas disappeared in 1815 when Murat's royal palace was pillaged, and its present location, if it survives at all, is unknown. The composition is known today only through Ingres's preparatory studies and a sketch he made from memory in 1832, and its reclining pose proved influential on the artist's own later work, reappearing in his Odalisque with Slave of 1839 and Jupiter and Antiope of 1851.
