Le pigeon aux petits pois

Le pigeon aux petits pois is a 1911 oil on canvas painting by Pablo Picasso from his Analytical Cubist period, measuring 65 by 54 centimeters and rendered in a restricted palette of ochre and brown geometric planes. On 20 May 2010 it was stolen from the Musee d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris along with four other works, in a theft whose combined value was estimated at around 100 million euros; this painting alone was valued at about 23 million euros. Described by an Art Loss Register expert as one of the largest art heists ever given the value, the artists involved and the prominence of the museum, the painting has never been recovered and its whereabouts remain unknown.
