A pile-woven wool carpet excavated from a frozen Scythian burial mound in the Pazyryk Valley of Siberia, dated to around the fifth to fourth century BCE. Preserved by permafrost, it is the oldest known surviving pile carpet in the world and offers rare direct evidence of ancient nomadic textile technique and design.
