Landscape with the Flight into Egypt is a 1563 oil-on-panel painting by the Netherlandish Renaissance artist Pieter Bruegel the Elder, showing Mary and Joseph carrying the infant Jesus during their biblical flight from King Herod. The work measures about 37 by 56 centimeters and places the Holy Family as small figures within a vast Alpine panorama, in keeping with Bruegel's world landscape tradition. The composition includes a fallen pagan statue, read as a sign of Christ's triumph over paganism, and small salamanders taken as symbols of evil. The painting is held in the Courtauld Gallery in London. This description is adapted from Wikipedia contributors under CC BY-SA 4.0; changes were made. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/
