A hollow wooden box inlaid with shell, red limestone and lapis lazuli mosaic, created in the Sumerian city of Ur around 2600 BCE and excavated from the Royal Cemetery of Ur in the 1920s. Its two long panels, conventionally read as scenes of war and peace, are among the most important surviving pictorial records of early Mesopotamian civilization.
