Yan Zhenqing (709 to 784) was a Chinese calligrapher, military general and politician who served as a loyal governor of the Tang dynasty. He is ranked among the greatest master calligraphers in Chinese history, and his regular-script style, known simply as the Yan style, has been imitated for centuries since.
