Baroque Composers

Composers of the Baroque period, roughly 1600 to 1750, when music gained the basso continuo, the concerto, opera and oratorio. A composer belongs here when the cited article places the person in the Baroque period. It excludes the Classical period composers who followed them. Its leading composers wrote concertos, suites, cantatas, operas and organ works, often for churches and courts, and a composer is placed here by the period the cited article names for the person rather than by birth date alone.
