Baroque and Later Christian Scenes

Christian religious paintings made from the seventeenth century onward, spanning the dramatic light and emotional intensity of the Baroque, the devotional art of the Orthodox and Catholic worlds into the modern era, and later revivals of Christian religious subject matter by painters working well after the movement's original period. This group excludes an earlier Christian scene, gathered under Medieval and Renaissance Christian Scenes, and excludes an Old Testament scene, gathered under its own group regardless of when it was painted.
