Caterina Ginnasi was an Italian noblewoman and painter of the Baroque period who lived from 1590 to 1660, active mainly in Rome. Orphaned young and raised by her uncle, Cardinal Domenico Ginnasi, she refused an arranged marriage to remain single and devote herself to a spiritual life, training as a painter under Gaspare Celio and then under Giovanni Lanfranco until 1634.
