Januarius Zick

Johann Rasso Januarius Zick (1730-1797) was a German painter and architect regarded as one of the principal masters of the late Baroque. Born in Munich, he trained in fresco painting under his father, Johannes Zick, and also apprenticed as a bricklayer before building a career centered on princely residences and monastery churches across Upper Swabia and the German territories. He served as court painter to the Prince-Elector of Trier and remained professionally active until his death at Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, leaving an extensive body of fresco cycles and altarpieces that exemplify Baroque ecclesiastical decoration.
