Painters of the Baroque and Rococo working outside Italy, spanning the Dutch Golden Age, Flemish Baroque, the Spanish Golden Age, French Baroque and Rococo court painting, and the Baroque traditions of Central Europe, from around 1600 through the mid eighteenth century. This group gathers the great national schools that developed alongside and in dialogue with the Italian Baroque, including portrait, genre, still life and religious painting produced for Northern European, Spanish and French patrons, and excludes the Italian school itself, gathered under Italian Baroque, and excludes the later Rococo's Neoclassical reaction, gathered under Romanticism and Neoclassicism.
