Johann Jakob Zeiller

Johann Jakob Zeiller was an Austrian painter who lived from 1708 to 1783. Born in Reutte, he trained under his painter father Paul before apprenticing with Sebastiano Conca in Rome and Francesco Solimena in Naples. He then moved to Vienna, where he worked under Paul Troger and in 1737 received the title of imperial court painter from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Zeiller painted primarily religious themed frescoes, including work for the Aldersbach Abbey in Furstenzell and the Ettal Abbey, and later returned to Reutte, where he contributed frescoes to churches across Tyrol until his death.
