Filippo Lippi (c. 1406-1469) was an Italian Renaissance painter of the Quattrocento and a Carmelite priest, active in Florence and later Spoleto, where he died. He ran an influential painting workshop known for pioneering a more naturalistic style, and he trained a number of important artists, including Sandro Botticelli and Francesco di Pesellino, as well as his own son Filippino Lippi, who also became a noted painter.
