Painters of the Italian Renaissance, working in Florence, Venice, Rome, Siena and other Italian centers from the late thirteenth through the sixteenth century, including the early masters who broke from Byzantine convention, the High Renaissance figures who established classical composition and perspective as the discipline's working standard, and the later Mannerist painters who extended and complicated that vocabulary. This group excludes painters working the same techniques and period outside Italy, who belong under Non-Italian Renaissance instead, and excludes later Italian painters working in a Baroque idiom, who belong under Italian Baroque.
