Giulio Pippi, known as Giulio Romano, was an Italian painter and architect and a pupil of Raphael. His stylistic departures from High Renaissance classicism helped define the sixteenth century style known as Mannerism, and his drawings, widely circulated through engraved prints by Marcantonio Raimondi, contributed significantly to the spread of Italian style across Europe.
