Piero della Francesca (c. 1414 to 1492) was an Italian painter, mathematician and geometer of the Early Renaissance, valued today chiefly for his art. His painting is marked by serene humanism and a distinctive use of geometric forms and perspective, and his most famous work is the fresco cycle The History of the True Cross in the Basilica of San Francesco in the Tuscan town of Arezzo.
