Joos van Cleve (about 1485 to 1540 or 1541) was a leading painter active in Antwerp from about 1511 until his death, known chiefly for religious works and portraits. He combined the traditional techniques of Early Netherlandish painting with newer Renaissance influences and ran a large workshop with several pupils and assistants.
