All Family, Couple and Group Portraits

Portraits that show more than one sitter, such as married couples, whole families, friends and members of a profession or guild. A work belongs here when the cited article describes it as a double, family or group portrait or names two or more sitters. It excludes single portraits and self-portraits, which sit in their own groups. Some were painted for a wedding or a family record, some for a guild or a school of medicine, and some record friends who sat together for the artist. The group follows the number and relation of the sitters named in the cited article and not the painter or the century.
