The Aldobrandini Wedding is an ancient Roman fresco of the second half of the 1st century BC, showing a wedding scene attended by several mythological figures, in a style scholars connect to the early Augustan age. It was uncovered around 1600 in a house near the Arch of Gallienus on Rome's Esquiline Hill and stayed in the Aldobrandini family's possession until Vatican authorities acquired it in 1818. During the 19th century it was among the most studied surviving paintings from the early Roman empire, reproduced in engravings and discussed by prominent classical scholars.
