Basket of Bread, also known as Basket of Bread, Rather Death Than Shame, is an oil-on-panel painting from 1945 by the Spanish surrealist artist Salvador Dali, now held in the Dali Theatre and Museum in Figueres. It depicts the heel of a loaf of bread resting in a basket near the edge of a table, rendered by Dali with a precise, almost photographic realism distinct from the more overtly fantastical imagery of much of his surrealist work.
