Mary, Untier of Knots, also called Mary, Undoer of Knots, is a Baroque devotional painting by the German artist Johann Georg Melchior Schmidtner, created around 1700 and held in the church of St. Peter am Perlach in Augsburg, Bavaria. It depicts the Virgin Mary untying knots in a ribbon, representing both the painting and the Marian devotion of the same name that it illustrates. The devotion had once been known mainly in parts of Latin America, but became known worldwide after the 2013 election of Pope Francis.
