Mountain Landscape with Rainbow is an oil painting made in 1809 to 1810 by the German Romantic artist Caspar David Friedrich, showing a lone traveler observing a mountain landscape beneath a rainbow. Friedrich drew on his 1809 travels through Germany and along the Baltic coast, and the picture follows the Romantic emphasis on a single figure's subjective response to nature's scale. Duke Carl August of Saxe-Weimar bought the painting in 1810 along with other works by Friedrich, and it now hangs in the Museum Folkwang in Essen, Germany.
