Panorama Mesdag is a cylindrical oil painting by the Dutch artist Hendrik Willem Mesdag, more than fourteen metres high and about forty metres in diameter, depicting the seacoast, beach and village of Scheveningen as they appeared in the late nineteenth century. It is displayed in a purpose-built museum in The Hague, viewed from a central observation platform, with three-dimensional terrain at the base of the gallery concealing where the canvas begins so as to create the illusion that the visitor stands on a dune overlooking the sea.
