Portrait of Vincent van Gogh (1887)

Portrait of Vincent van Gogh, 1887, is a chalk pastel portrait of the painter Vincent van Gogh made by his friend and fellow artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, drawn in early 1887 while both were studying at an open studio in Paris. It shows van Gogh seated in profile at a cafe table with a glass of absinthe, likely at the Cafe du Tambourin on the Boulevard de Clichy, rendered in bright Impressionist blues, oranges and yellows. Measuring about 54.2 by 46 centimetres, the pastel is held at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
