Bodo, born Camille-Pierre Pambu Bodo, was a painter and pastor from the Democratic Republic of the Congo who worked in Kinshasa. He was one of the founders of the Zaire School of Popular Painting alongside Moke and Cheri Samba, believing that art could change the course of history. From the 1990s his style moved toward fantasy and symbolism, blending human and animal forms in dreamlike scenes drawn from his travels and from urban life around him. His paintings are held in major international collections including Tate Modern and the Guggenheim Bilbao.
