Francesco Albani (1578-1660) was an Italian Baroque painter active in Bologna, Rome, Viterbo, Mantua and Florence. A leading figure of the Bolognese school shaped by Annibale Carracci classicism, he became known for idyllic landscapes and small mythological pictures that earned him the nickname the Anacreon of painters.
